Of the 554 samples, 96 samples were obtained from infants. It found that 76 percent of children were infected with delta type infections.
The Tamil Nadu Health Department said that out of 1,159 people tested for corona in Tamil Nadu, 386 were confirmed to have ‘delta’ type corona infection.
During the first wave of corona, the ‘alpha’ type corona virus was found all over India including Tamil Nadu. This type of virus infection transforms over time and becomes malignant. The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified the virus that has mutated in India as ‘delta’ type corona.
In this situation, various states including Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra were severely affected when the second wave of Corona hit the country. Later, the Tamil Nadu Public Health Department decided to conduct a study in this regard. It was planned to study the genome of the viral infection to find out what kind of corona infection has occurred in Tamil Nadu.

Accordingly, mucus samples were collected from corona victims for corona infection, family victims, corona victims through adolescence, adolescents, children, corona victims without co-morbidities and vaccinated corona victims. Thus 1,159 samples were collected and sent to the Viral Genetics Laboratory in Bangalore.

The results of 554 samples have been released. The study found that 386 people, or 70 percent, were infected with the delta-type corona virus. The ‘alpha’ type corona virus was found in just 47 samples. Eighty-one percent of delta infections are found in adolescents and the elderly.

In this case, 96 of the 554 samples were taken from infants. Of those, 76 percent of children are infected with delta type infections. Delta-type virus was found in the mucus sample of 83 percent of people who were vaccinated and infected with corona. Similarly, 30 per cent of those affected by the same area or event and 23 per cent of those affected by families were found to have the type of infection.
Director of the Department of Public Health, Dr. Selvavinayakam said, “The virus is constantly evolving to keep itself alive. That is how the ‘delta’ type of infection has been found in Tamil Nadu at present. So there is no need to be afraid.

Most people who get vaccinated properly do not get corona infection. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. Therefore, vaccination, whether delta type or any other new type, can protect us 90 percent of the time. ” He said that.
