According to a press release issued by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin, the State Planning Commission was formed by Karunanidhi on May 25, 1971. It functions as an advisory body under the leadership of the Chief Minister. It thus makes recommendations on various development activities in the state.
This Committee was restructured as the State Development Policy Committee on 23.04.2020. In this situation, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin has issued an order to amend the State Development Policy Committee. Accordingly, Prof. J. Jeyaranjan has been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Committee. He holds a PhD from the Chennai Development Research Institute. Has conducted approximately 65 research papers on economic changes in Tamil Nadu over the last 35 years. He has published more than 50 research articles in popular research journals. Professor Rama. Sinuvasan will be a full-time member. He is a Professor of Economics at the University of Chennai.
He holds a PhD in Economics and has been a college and university teacher for 30 years. He was a member of the Planning Commission of the State of Tamil Nadu for five years from 2006-11. Accompanied by Prof. M. Vijayabaskar, Prof. Sultan Ahmed Ismail, M. Deenabandhu IOP (Retired), DRP Raja,Mannargudi legislator Mallika Srinivasan, Joe Amalorpavanathan, Siddha doctor K. Sivaraman and Dr. Nartaki Nataraj have been appointed as part-time members.
